The Story of Playland Farms

Diane was exposed to the Al Marah type horses in 1965, and immediately fell in love with them, and a few years later acquired her first mare, Al-Marah Daphne, and shortly thereafter a Playland Farm breeding program began.

The next twenty-eight years were spent breeding mostly the Al-Marah type horses with Double R and Crabbett bloodlines. Some of these stallion bloodlines were Indraff, Count Dorsey, Brimervale Destiny, Gypsy Vision, Autumn Meade, Radames, Khat, Indian Bay, Sopot Talisman's Lancer, El Addinn, Mar-Shanee.

Some of the later stallions were to get more size into the herd. In 1996 a 16.2 Tobiano Saddlebred stallion LH Expialidicoucs, was acquired to cross to the very beautiful type Arabian mares to produce half-Arabs and National Show Horses and that program is continuing today producing beautiful foals with good dispositions that should mature at 15 + hands.

In 1998, Diane was able to lease and stand at stud an Irish Draft Stallion, one of a very few in this country. He is the son of Flagmont King, a Grand Prix competition champion, competing in Portugal, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Scotland. In 1999 Diane's first crop of half-Irish Draft Horse and half-Arab foals will be born. They should be big 15+-hand horse, quiet athletic, good hunter jumpers performance horses.
